Our Community Impact
Every trek you take with KlimbKing creates ripples of positive change across Tanzania.
Tourism That Gives More Than It Takes
At KlimbKing, we believe that the greatest adventure companies are also the most responsible ones. We're deeply embedded in the communities that surround Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru — and we take that responsibility seriously.
Through our partnership with the GoCultural Africa Foundation, a percentage of every trek booking directly funds education programs, porter welfare initiatives, and mountain conservation projects. When you climb with us, you're not just reaching a summit — you're lifting an entire community.
Education & Youth Empowerment
Through the GoCultural Africa Foundation, we fund secondary school scholarships, science equipment, and vocational training programs for young people in the Kilimanjaro and Arusha regions.
Our Mountain Mentorship Program connects young Tanzanians aged 14–22 with professional guides — creating a pipeline of future mountain professionals who stay in their communities.
Environmental Conservation
We enforce strict Leave No Trace protocols on every expedition. Every KlimbKing group performs a mandatory "pack it in, pack it out" sweep before departure from every campsite.
We've partnered with the Kilimanjaro Reforestation Initiative to plant 5,000+ native trees annually in the lower forest zones, actively reversing the deforestation that climate change has accelerated on the mountain.
Porter Welfare Program
The Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP) recognizes KlimbKing as a responsible operator for our Porter Welfare Program. Every porter on our team receives:
- Living wage (above KPAP minimum)
- Proper cold-weather gear provided
- Max 20kg carry weight enforced
- Free medical check at each gate
- Pension & health insurance access
